Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: Mrs. Butterworth, a friendly and easygoing mama with extra toes!
When Mrs. Butterworth’s kittens ended up at animal control without her, we tracked down the mysterious mom behind the babies and brought her to safety. She patiently raised her kits, did all the hard work of motherhood, and now she’s ready to retire from childcare and move into a permanent position as your favorite cat.

Mrs. Butterworth is the velcro-iest of velcro. Whatever you’re doing? She’s available. She can help. She’ll be supervising from three inches away. If she realizes you’re in another room without her, she’ll gently call out to remind you of your mistake. Her affection could be described as “aggressive friendship,” but she’s also wonderfully easygoing. Vacuums, household commotion, and general chaos are all fine. She has already raised six children and now fears nothing.
As a bonus, she comes equipped with extra toes that give her oversized mittens and make every biscuit-making session seem professional. Toys are fine, but she’d much rather spend her time being close to people. If given the choice between a feather wand and sitting next to you, you’ll probably win.
Mrs. Butterworth may do well with other pets given a proper introduction, but what she truly wants is companionship. After spending so much of her life caring for others, she’s ready for a home where someone returns the favor. Note: Her kittens are also available for adoption if you’d like a duo.
