Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition—a local organization that’s dedicated to creating a no kill community by humanely reducing the cat population in the Milwaukee area through targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR)—to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a snuggle bud named Kendrick.
Meet Kendrick. Kenny came to us a bit grouchy and grumpy, but now that he’s tasted the cushy life, he’s bright-eyed, happy, and ready to cuddle! Kenny is an absolute Lap Magnet! He is the snuggliest cat alive. He is obsessed with cuddles. It’s really incredible! A month ago, he was grumpy and nervous. Now the moment his foster hits the couch, he appears out of nowhere at their side, ready to board the cuddle bus and melt in.
He’s so snuggly. Kendrick’s foster even considered keeping him. But goodbye is the goal, so if you need a 12-pound snuggle bud to ease your anxiety literally any time you are stationary, this is your man. He’s six years old and he’s also FIV+ It’s no big deal, he can live with other cats! Ask us for more details if you’re not sure. FIV is not casually transmissible.
Kenny does well with other chill cats. He sleeps on the same bed with the foster’s resident cat. Kenny also has a little bit of “street” left in him in that he sometimes nips. It doesn’t happen often, and it’s lessening as he settles in to this life of comfort. Hopefully it will disappear entirely now that he doesn’t have anything to defend himself against. But it’s worth noting because it might be best he doesn’t have human toddler siblings yet.
Kendrick also has an interesting facial feature…or lack thereof. He’s missing half of his left nostril, probably the result of a fight during his street days. So if you like the rough and tumble gentle giant type, he’s your dude. He currently lives with another cat and a house full of plants and he doesn’t bother the plants at all.
He’s a very social kitty, he loves to be where you are, and his happy face when you bring out treats will make you laugh. He LOVES treats. He’s a talker and he’ll use his voice to find you when you’re missing. Other times, he seems to be expressing his inner monologue. We’ll never know for sure.
