Since opening in the former site of River Hills Family Fun Center in nearby Greenfield in August 2023, Holey Mackerel has been growing, improving, and evolving. In under three years, the suburban miniature golf course and batting cage complex has renovated its clubhouse and unveiled a cocktail program that could rival anywhere in Greenfield (and many places in Milwaukee, for that matter). Along the way, they’ve incorporated dining into the mix with its ever-present ShortFin on-site food truck. They’ve weathered the putt putt-prohibitive winters with ambitious pop-up transformations.
Later this month, Holey Mackerel will continue its evolution by hosting its very first festival. On Saturday, May 23, the course will get metro Milwaukee’s festival season off to an early start and open its beer garden (oh yeah, we forgot to tell you they’ve also added a beer garden to the property!) with a day-long undertaking they’re calling the “Summer Kick-Off Music Festival.”
From noon until 10 p.m., the multi-faceted entertainment complex will host DJs and live music from the likes of The Hallelujah Ward, Cassini Echoes, Shrinestone, TNGNT, Faded Places, and Genau. Meanwhile, Shortfin will be serving up pizza and the Mackerel clubhouse will be cracking cans and pouring cocktails. Looking for something to do between bands? Play a round of mini golf, take some swings in the batting cages, browse a local vendor market, or watch your kids make some art in one of the designated activity spaces. It’s free to attend, though food, drinks, mini, golf, and batting cages must be purchased in case that wasn’t obvious.
Save the date, check out the full lineup below, and maybe drop by our Morgan Park Picnic festival for a while on your way there!
