This past Tuesday, the Vegas Golden Knights won the first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Among the players on that championship-winning roster is journeyman right wing Phil Kessel. This season’s Stanley Cup marks the third time the Madison native has been part of a championship team in his long, historically durable, and illustrious career. Now one Milwaukee bar wants to convince Kessel to bring the trophy to town this offseason.

After the Golden Knights won it all this week, Puddler’s Hall started a petition to convince Kessel to bring the Stanley Cup to the Bay View bar. Given Kessel’s direct Wisconsin affiliation, Puddler’s Hall being one of the state’s best places to watch NHL action, and the fact the bar likely has the largest Phil Kessel fan club on Facebook, this isn’t necessarily an unrealistic ask. Puddler’s explains its reasoning more on the Change.org petition description.

At Puddler’s Hall we love Hockey, Hot Dogs, and Phil Kessel. In fact, we have the largest Phil Kessel fan club on Facebook (that we’re aware of anyways). While we all dream of the day of Milwaukee having its own NHL team, we’re also well aware that the reality is that the only way the Stanley Cup is passing through our fine city is if a Stanley Cup Champion brings it here to parade it around town. Phil, we beg of you to bring that trophy back to your home state, hoist it up over your head on our stage, and revel in the joy that it will bring our local hockey community.

You may ask your self, why Puddler’s Hall? Plain and simple, we’ll throw one heck of a party.  We’ll fire up the grill and invite all of our favorite hockey friends young and old. As the 2nd best hockey bar in Milwaukee, a proud supporter of our local youth hockey organizations, and a sponsor of one of the finest D league teams around, we’ll make sure that the Stanley Cup gets the respect and admiration that it deserves as it’s crossing the country from player to player.

As of the time this article was written, the petition had 223 signatures. If you want to see Kessel and/or The Cup in person, or you just want to make a scrappy and all-around great Milwaukee hockey bar’s dreams come true, sign the petition today and spread the word.
