Depending on which news sources you follow, Milwaukee is going through either a “renaissance” or a “reinvention.” However you want to define it, it’s safe to say that Milwaukee is currently building a lot of new and wonderful things! Here are some of them, brought to you by GTG Home Buyers!

• Remember that plan from Madison-based FPC Live to build a two-room music venue near the Summerfest grounds, but then they moved it to the Deer District, and then they shrunk it down to a one-room venue, and then there wasn’t much news about it for a while? Well, they’re still building it.

FPC Live’s parent company, the Live-Nation-majority-owned Frank Productions, gave an update on the $70 million project on Wednesday. According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “bookings are expected to begin early in 2025 for the 4,500-person-capacity live music venue […] with the under-construction venue on schedule to open by late 2025.” The venue’s foundation, as well as an elevator shaft, have already been built. • Remember that plan from New Land Enterprises to build a 24-story apartment building on the site of joint parking lots for the Renaissance Place event venue and the Mexican Consulate, at 1490 N. Farwell Ave.? Well, New Land is waiting “for market conditions to change” before moving ahead with the project. In the meantime, New Land will use the site for—what else?—parking. [Urban Milwaukee]

• Remember that controversial plan to convert a long-vacant four-story building at 324 N. 15th St. into 45 apartments and commercial space? Well, the plan “could move forward next month.” [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

• Remember that plan to build a 55-story apartment tower on the current site of the Marcus Performing Arts Center parking garage, creating Wisconsin’s tallest building but depriving the city (and THE WORLD) of that big pile of snow that forms there every year? Well, the plan is currently “in limbo.” Phew. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

• The Urban Ecology Center in Riverside Park is getting a new 300-person event hall. The hall will constructed in a renovated industrial building, and will be operated by Two Birds Event Group. [OnMilwaukee]

• How will the Draft & Co. cafe in Vel R. Phillips Plaza look? “This is how the Draft & Co. cafe in Vel R. Phillips Plaza may look.” [OnMilwaukee]

• New playground! [WISN 12]

• New apartments! [OnMilwaukee]

• New condos! [Urban Milwaukee]
