Tonight, the Milwaukee Brewers will take on the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1 of the 2026 World Series. It will be the Brewers’ first Fall Classic appearance in 44 years. Seems like a good time to make an offering to the Baseball gods, yes?

Yes it does. So here’s the deal: On August 20, 2025, Wisconsin burger chain George Webb gave away free hamburgers to celebrate the Brewers’ 12-game winning streak. We stood in line and got one:

Did we eat it? No. Did we bury it in the woods and exhume it one year later? No, we did that back in 2018/2019. Instead, we kept the 2025 burger in our office freezer, saving it for a rainy day and/or a once-in-a-generation Brewers World Series appearance. And wouldn’t you know it, the latter has come to pass!

So, on October 21, 2026, we fished the year-old burger out of our freezer…

…and sacrificed it on a funeral pyre—a.k.a. a backyard fire pit! You know, as one does. We thought about eating it, but, um, nah.

Also involved in the ceremony: a Saint Bob Uecker candle, some roses, and a case of Miller High Life. (Apologies to Miller Lite.) The Baseball gods were pleased. You can watch the whole thing below:

Thanks to Cory Ampe for the Uecker candle, and thanks to Odd Duck chef/co-owner Ross Bachhuber for the camerawork and fire pit. Look for charred George Webb burger on the Odd Duck menu soon.

And, most importantly…

GO BREWERS!
