My buddy in San Fran just sent me this photo. I don't know much else about it (yet).
Fun fact: Lakefront Brewery’s Riverwest Stein was originally called Riverwest Steam, a tribute by the Klisch brothers to Anchor Steam, which was brewed in San Francisco.
The name only changed because they entered the beer in a competition and their handwritten application was apparently a little hard to read. The competition organizers thought “Steam” said “Stein,” and the Klisch brothers ended up liking the accidental name better.
Not directly connected to this photo, but it’s another fun little Milwaukee–San Francisco “steam” connection.
@mitchyd Probably for the best, actually. Anchor often went after other breweries who used "steam" in their name, even though it is a brewing style and not a brand name.
that was me. i wasn't logged in oops.
