When we last checked in with Socially Suspect, the genre-flouting Milwaukee band was…releasing its own card game where players “experience the glamorous life of a DIY band”? It’s true! Oh, and tickling listeners’ eardrums with grungy prog-rock tunes like “6 To 2” and “Razor Rain.”
So what has Socially Suspect been up to lately? A lot, it turns out. The band just released a new single, “P.S.” The song features new lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist Steven Baird, formerly of Man Random. And it features drummer Jonathan Sadowski singing on the verses and post-bridge (Baird handles the choruses). Tera Willis (lead guitar) and Tyler Potter (bass) are on hand, too, all delivering Socially Suspect’s most straight-ahead and enjoyable alt-rock song to date—albeit a relatively off-kilter alt-rock song that features a ripping guitar solo.
“Finding all the words to run and make a break,” Baird sings. “Searching for escape from all these mistakes haunting every day.” Is “P.S.” about “letting out all the things you wish you had said before exiting a toxic situation”? You bet it is.
Oh, and P.S.: “P.S.” is the first song from a Socially Suspect EP that will be released this summer. Stay tuned.
