In addition to being the longtime drummer of Smoking Popes and the founder of the Live From The Rock Room music video series, Mike Felumlee is also an accomplished solo artist. Over the past 20 years, the Milwaukee (by way of Chicago) multi-instrumentalist has released a few full-lengths, a cover album, some EPs and splits (including one with his former Alkaline Trio bandmate Dan Andriano), and sporadic singles. A few days ago, Felumlee’s catalog grew one song larger with the release of a great new number about the good old days.

“Welcome To Your Life” is a wistful song about the ease of adolescence, the in-person connection people used to have with their friends and neighbors, the joy of playing outside as a kid, and the modern day isolation brought on by technology. The slow-strummed pop-punk ditty comes complete with a catchy chorus, backing vocals from Kailynn West of Tiny Stills, and an identifiable yearning for a time in our life when things moved a little slower and seemed a lot more simple.

Before Smoking Popes headline a Friday, November 11 show at The Back Room @ Colectivo that also features Off With Their Heads, Limbeck, and The Color Fred, listen to Felumlee’s new single below.
