Never mind the 7 inches of wet, dense snow currently making us question why we live here—THINK SUMMER, MILWAUKEE. Yes, two beloved Riverwest festivals will return this summer: Locust Street Festival (Sunday, June 11) and Center Street Daze Festival (Saturday, August 12). THIS IS WHY WE LIVE HERE!

Of the two fests, Locust Street Festival is the most missed, since there hasn’t been a proper shindig since 2019. The 2020 and 2021 editions were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 edition was canceled a month before showtime, though a number of alternate fests—including one organized by Black Husky Brewing, which is involved in the 2023 edition—ensured that the neighborhood was still alive with food, music, and fun.

Garden Park Association, a “not-for-profit established to enhance, develop and provide a community space in Garden Park on the corner of Locust and Bremen,” is the agent for Locust Street 2023. Interested in playing the fest, sponsoring the fest, or reserving vendor space at the fest? Email Black Husky’s Tim Eichinger at [email protected]. (Longtime organizers Linda Maslow and Peter Wolbersen retired from the festival this year.)

Oh, and yes, there will be a Beer Run/Walk!

As for Center Street Daze, it was canceled in 2020 and 2021, but it did happen in 2022. Now, it’s set to happen again on August 12. Save the date! And again, THINK SUMMER!
