With spring just days away and summer (theoretically) around the corner, it’s time for Milwaukee summer festival announcements! Today’s announcement belongs to Milwaukee Irish Fest, which is set to return to Henry Maier Festival Park August 17-20.
Irish Fest 2023—the festival’s 42nd installment—promises more than 100 acts across 16 stages, plus “endless entertainment and cultural activities such as sporting events, genealogy research assistance, Irish language sessions, theater performances, and so much more.”
So who are some of those 100 acts, you ask? Well, according to organizers:
Featured musical entertainers this year include Boxing Banjo, The Byrne Brothers, Cassie and Maggie, Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones, The Diddley Idols, Doolin’, The Drowsy Lads, Eileen Ivers,Goitse, The Henry Girls, Lisa Canny, Shane Hennessy, and Skerryvore. Irish Fest is also bringing back fan favorites Gaelic Storm and Scythian.
The famed indie rock group from Dublin, The Coronas, will return for the first time since 2017 and Hermitage Green, an acoustic folk rock group from Limerick, will also return. Ten artists and bands will make their Irish Fest debut this year: Colm and Laura Keegan from Scotland, The Finns, The Friel Sisters, Gross Isle, MEGA-Trad, Merfolk, Polly Barrett, and Wallis Bird from Ireland, and Steam and Ulla from Irish America.
