Just kidding. Rick Astley is coming to the Pabst Theater Thursday, April 26. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 9, at 10 a.m. Reserved seating tickets are $35 and $45. You wouldn’t get those kind of prices from any other guy.
For those born well after 1987, and/or for those unfamiliar with YouTube, Astley is best known for his massive, inescapable, and wonderful ’80s hits “Together Forever” and, of course, “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The latter has been an internet meme before people started calling them internet memes, inspiring the timeless practice of “rickrolling.” Hell, even Astley knows the game and plays it.
Also, Astley has sold more than 40 million records, was the first male solo artist to see his first eight singles reach the UK Top Ten, and is currently working on a new album. He’s 52 years old (today’s his birthday!) and his hair still looks great. He’s also totally cool with the whole rickrolling/”Never Gonna Give You Up” thing. (Sorry about the whole “important message” thing. We are ditching the Disqus commenting system because it includes ads now, so there’s that.)
