Higher Education Records (HER) spins an intricate web. The Milwaukee hip-hop and electronic collective has so many individual artists (GetMoses, Mad Static, Diallo, Slang Troubadour, FHOBOS, NDILOMA, Mic Crawf) and so many projects that feature different combinations of those artists (RealityTV being one of them) that keeping track of it all can feel like a Pepe Silvia-esque undertaking.

Add to list AZTHMA, a new HER collaboration of Slang Troubadour and FHOBOS. The duo’s debut 5-track EP Earborne just dropped, and with it, a video for single “Neural Net.” Is the Jason Hillman-directed video a satiric sci-fi tale of a deadly virus spread via sound waves and contracted through the ears? Yes. Was the video shot at various Milwaukee-area hotspots like RushMor Records, Canni, and Atwater Beach? Yes. Oh, and does “Neural Net” feature DJ Abilities from Minneapolis collective Rhymesayers? It does!

Earborne is both a biological weapon and a joke—a noisy meditation on chaos, humor, and collapse that’s as confrontational as it is playful,” AZTHMA says of the new EP. “At its core, AZTHMA isn’t just a name, but a condition. Earborne is just the initial outbreak.” Pairs well with that new Pluribus show!

Want to see AZTHMA live? The duo has a record release show set for January 22, 2026 at X-Ray Arcade. DJ Abilities, Kia Rap Princess, Guerrilla Ghost, and GetMoses will play in support. (And yes, X-Ray has earplugs for sale. Just saying.)
