“Turn me over when I’m done / I’ll be here anyhow / I’m your roaster coaster down payment / A real kick in the mouth.”

That was Diet Lite on “Pack It Up,” the raucous opening track of the band’s 2025 album Double Wide Yukon. Now, just over a year later, it’s time for another kick in the mouth: Diet Lite is packing it up for real. The wildly popular Milwaukee indie-rock group has announced it will play its final show on Saturday, December 5 at Falcon Bowl.

“All good things must come to an end and Diet Lite is no different,” reads a press release. “The boys are ready for a break. Call it quitting while you’re ahead, getting older, or any multitude of reasons. In a nutshell, it just felt like the right time.”

The boys in question are Kelson Kuzdas, Evan Marsalli, and Max Niemann. The trio founded Diet Lite in Oshkosh, but they eventually moved their operations to Milwaukee. It was here that Diet Lite exploded onto the city’s post-COVID music scene. The group’s debut album Seems To Be The Way It Tends To Go was released in March 2021, just as area lockdowns were being eased.

That record was followed by 2023’s Into The Pudding and 2025’s Double Wide Yukon. Diet Lite chalked up countless shows and festival appearances during its Milwaukee tenure, and won oodles of loyal fans in the city and beyond. The band’s 2022 tour was documented in the feature-length doc Stumble Out The Gate.

Diet Lite’s popularity never waned, but the group’s fate has been looming. The last year or so has found lead singer Niemann spending more and more time with his country-tinged project Fellow Travelers. During this year’s Locust Street Festival, Niemann pulled double duty with both groups on separate stages.

Diet Lite’s Falcon Bowl finale will be packed with fellow Milwaukee heavy hitters: Totally Cashed; Shoobie; Chapped Lips; and Oh Well, OK. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. We’re guessing you’ll want to get ’em in advance.

“Don’t miss out on this last chance to see Diet Lite,” concludes the press release. “Who knows if you’ll ever have another chance.” All good things, indeed.
