Here’s another one to file in the “huge shows happening in intimate venues” category. Roughly six weeks after Cactus Club hosts P.O.S, the same Bay View bar will be the site of another impressive bill that’s not to be missed. The Hold Steady’s frontman Craig Finn will take Cactus’ cozy stage on Sunday, October 22 along with his backing band, The Uptown Controllers. The band will be playing in support of Finn’s latest solo effort, the months-old We All Want The Same Things.

Perhaps more impressive than witnessing the influential singer-songwriter’s Cactus Club return is the show’s opener. John K. Samson, who is best known as the former bassist of Propagandhi and (more so as) the singer of The Weakerthans, will play an opening set in belated support of his gorgeous and heart-wrenching 2016 solo record, Winter Wheat. Holy shit.

Advance tickets are $25 (and $25 at the door, if available) and they go on sale at 11 a.m. CST on Friday, August 11.
