Earlier this week, we wrote about some of our favorite Milwaukee music of 2025 and named some of our favorite local music videos of the year as well. Even though we’re taking time to look back on our favorite Milwaukee music output from 2025, it’s important top remember there are still three weeks left in the year and there’s still plenty of time to hear some great new local tunes that will come out before 2026 rolls around.
This Friday, TNGNT (pronounced “Tangent”) will add to the city’s already impressive annual output with the release its debut EP. If you aren’t familiar with the project, which started in 2021 and played its first show last December, locally-minded listeners are sure to recognize some of the band’s associated acts. Members of this riff-forward, stoner rock outfit have direct ties to noted projects like Erotic Adventures Of The Static Chicken, The Delta Routine, Lost Orange Cat, Whiskey Of The Damned, Andrew David Weber Band, American Progress, and Adorner.
That diverse range of influences is evident on the forthcoming TNGNT EP’s lead single. “Face To Face” is an absolute ripper that’s tangentially (see what we did there?) reminiscent of material from such modern-ish rock royalty as Soundgarden, A Perfect Circle, Queens Of The Stone Age, and maybe even a dash of Live thrown in, with powerful and emotive vocals cutting through a heavy haze of guitar and a swelling wave of percussion over a six-plus-minute span.
TNGNT’s debut EP, entitled VI, will come out on streaming platforms and will be available for digital download on Saturday, December 13. That same night, the band will headline an EP release show at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn that also features opening support from Jeans. The show begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.) and costs $10 at the door. Come “Face To Face” with the rock and roll stylings of TNGNT and listen to the new single now.
