When we last checked in with Brave You, the Milwaukee synth-punk project was chasing its 2022 album LIFER with a one-off single that had a critically acclaimed music video. More than two years removed from the creative, homespun “lyric video” for 2023’s “Sold Out Reunion Tour,” Brave You is coming back with a brand new EP.
On Friday, December 19, Brave You will release HYENAS. In advance of that EP and its January 8 release show at Cactus Club, the band is putting out a music video for the title track. Directed by prolific local photographer and videographer Samer Ghani, the “HYENAS” video is, well, pretty straightforward. Basically, it finds the band performing the song at Stillwave Studios (where the EP’s three songs were also recorded).
Between the raw, black and white footage and the outstanding song itself, you’ll want to watch the “HYENAS” music video now. Brave You will celebrate the EP’s release at Cactus Club on January 8 before continuing its weekend run at Collider (in Chicago) on January 9 and Gabe’s (Iowa City) on January 10.
