While many of Milwaukee’s summer festivals, block parties, and other large scale happenings have already come and gone, one of the city’s best fests is still on the horizon. Bay View Bash will return to Kinnickinnic Avenue on Saturday, September 21 and will fill the eponymous neighborhood with 11 hours worth of live entertainment, family fun, retail vendors, food, and drinks. Stage lineups will start rolling out in August, but we’re going to focus on the beverage side of things right now.
After partnering with Central Waters on an event-specific beer in 2023, Bay View Bash has struck up an agreement with Third Space Brewing—already a mainstay in the block party’s beer tents for years—to brew this year’s specialty beer.
“Third Space has been a partner of the Bay View Bash for years now. This year, they were looking for a new brewery to connect with to create the signature BVB beer,” Third Space co-founder and brewmaster Kevin Wright tells Milwaukee Record. “Ultimately we were approached with the opportunity and couldn’t pass it up. We’re extremely excited about creating this signature beer.”
The collaborative brew is simply called “Bash Beer” and Wright describes it as a “Hoppy Lager” that’s brewed with Third Space’s select pilsner house base malt and a relatively new U.S.-grown hop called Contessa.
“It’s the perfect beer to be drinking outside at the end of summer,” Wright says. “[There’s a] good, bright flavor from the Contessa hops with a crisp and refreshing finish—exactly what everyone craves on a hot summer day.”
Aside from a select few barrels that will be tapped at Third Space’s flagship Milwaukee location and its new Menomonee Falls taproom, Bash Beer will only be available at this year’s Bay View Bash in 16-ounce tallboy cans bearing an awesome summer-suited design by Milwaukee artist Lauren Marvell. So save the date for Bay View Bash and for Bash Beer. We’ll see you there!
