It has happened to all of us: You’re out on the town with some friends, enjoying some beverages at your favorite craft brewery and taproom, and there’s no magic. Not “magic” as in “chemistry and excitement,” but “magic” as in “an actual magician performing magic while you drink.” Happily, this situation will soon be a thing of the past.
Enter Wizard Works Brewing, a new magic-themed brewery coming this April to the soon-to-be-former Broken Bat Brewery, 231 E. Buffalo St. (Broken Bat is moving to 135 E. Pittsburgh Ave.) Wizard Works is the brainchild of professional magician Chris Ivanovich and Jennifer Higgins. The husband-and-wife duo plan to infuse their “brewery and tap room focusing on traditionally styled, hand-crafted beer” with “a bit of magic.”
“You’re getting great beer, a fun welcoming atmosphere created by people who understand enjoying your time out is more than just a craft beer in your hand,” Wizard Works says. “It’s a wonderful combination of the people you meet and speak with, the atmosphere and customer service you receive, and the quality of the brew you are sharing with friends old and new. That is the inspiration for Wizard Works Brewing Company. Beers will be quaffed. Tales will be told. Magic will be made. We need your help to make magic.”
Oh yeah, about that last part. Wizard Works is looking to raise $15,000 via Kickstarter in order to buy things like signage, a delivery vehicle, and various “taproom atmosphere” items. And you can help! Crowdfunding rewards include everything from branded pint glasses and bottle openers ($25 or more) to three magic lesson from Ivanovich ($300 or more). If you have $2,500 you’d like to make disappear (for a fun cause!), there’s a private event for up to 40 people in your future.
Wizard Works plans to open April 1, 2020. Until then, here’s that great opening bit from Penn & Teller Get Killed.
