While Milwaukee tries to figure out exactly what is going on with Frank’s Power Plant, we have more bad news on the Bay View business front. District 14 Brewery & Pub is closing “before the end of the month.” According to a Wednesday afternoon Facebook post from the business’ owner, the four-year-old taproom will cease operations in a matter of days.

Here is the full statement:

Good news and bad news guys.

Good news is we have a new sour beer hitting the taps today! The Final Hour Sour is a very nice barrel fermented sour. More tart than my typical sour so slightly less approachable. Nice tropical fruit notes and a dry finish.

Also Brewers play at 4 and we will have the sound on!

Bad news is that this beer is aptly named. D14 will be closing it’s doors for good before the end of the month. To say it breaks my heart to say this, is an understatement. I won’t get into all the why’s, except to say it is simply time to move on.

That being said our 4th Anniversary (and farewell) party will go on as planned this Saturday. I will stay open for sure until the 26th. I will likely bottle any remaining beer and have a bottle Release and final blowout the following week.

Thanks everyone
Matt

D14 opened in September 2014. Since it started brewing on Howell Ave., a number of new breweries have opened in Milwaukee, including four right in Bay View (three of which remain in the neighborhood). In its four-year run, the business was a popular meeting spot and a participant in Bay View Jazz Fest. Stay tuned for updates on the property. In the meantime, go have one last pint at D14 while you still can.
