Since opening at 434 S. 2nd Street in the fall of 2015, Camino has been a Walker’s Point mainstay known for its excellent beer selection, delicious burger (that’s only $5 every Monday!), and excellent pierogi options. After establishing itself in its original location over the last 11 years (and expanding into West Allis in 2020), the bar and grill is preparing to move its Milwaukee location. Fortunately, it won’t be going very far.
Today, a press release from Rebelhead Restaurant Group—which consists of both Camino locations and the incoming El Impostor—revealed Camino will soon be closing shop on 2nd Street and relocating to the former site of Engine Company No. 3.
“After 11 years in Walker’s Point, Camino is packing up the bar, the burgers, the beer, and as much of the accumulated personality as can reasonably be transported down the street,” the press release says. “The longtime Walker’s Point bar and restaurant will move to 217 W. National Avenue, just .3 miles from its current home.”
The main reason for the cross-neighborhood relocation seems to be square footage. The new property is significantly larger than Camino’s current Milwaukee home, it features two floors of dining space, and has a spacious side yard.
“The additional space will allow Camino to do things that simply weren’t possible before, including catering, weddings, company parties, special events and expanded weekday and weekend programming,” the press release says.
The release also indicates Camino will reopen in its new, improved, and enlarged home “before 2026 ends.” Stay tuned for more information on the opening date of “Camino 2.0” as its draws closer. In the meantime, enjoy this photo of the $5 burger Camino serves up every Monday.
