Thanks to each and every one of you who made it out to last night’s Milwaukee Record screening of Real Genius at Avalon Theater. What a night! Whether or not you attended, we’re pleased to let you know we’ll be keeping the laughs going with more classic comedies for the rest of the summer. Next up: Hot Fuzz! Tickets to this Wednesday, July 23 screening are on sale NOW.
The Edgar Wright-directed 2007 action-comedy is the second film in the “Three Flavours Cornetto” trilogy, following 2004 breakout zombie comedy Shaun Of The Dead and preceding 2013 sci-fi bar crawl romp The World’s End. Like those films, Hot Fuzz stars the incomparable comedic duo of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, both of whom at their best here.
This time around, the pair portrays police officers in the quiet—almost too quiet!—rural English town of Sandford, Gloucestershire, which has an extremely low murder rate, but “accidents” aplenty. Upon discovering all is not as it seems, the two cops are set on a thrilling, action-packed and, yes, super funny hunt for answers. Pegg and Frost are joined by a star-studded supporting cast that includes the likes of Bill Nighly, Timothy Dalton, Martin Freeman, and Oscar-winner Olivia Colman.
Reserved seating tickets to this “Milwaukee Record Presents” screening are $11. You can get them HERE. As always, the screening will be sponsored by our friends at Lakefront Brewery, Gruber Law Offices, and Skilos: A Family Pet Store.
