If Andy Williams is to be believed, we’re getting close to the most wonderful time of the year. While Black Friday madness, frigid temperatures, and dreadful seasonal ditties like “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” in regular radio rotation have us thinking otherwise, it’s hard to hate holiday movies returning to TV programming and movie screens. Following its great “Shocktoberfest” series around Halloween, the fine folks at Times Cinema and Avalon Theater sought the input of Milwaukee Record—a proud sponsor—and obtained the rights to some staples of seasonal cinema, as well as some unconventional flicks that just so happen to take place during the yuletide season.
Between December 18 and December 24, both theaters will show holiday (and tangentially holiday-related) titles for its “7 Days Of Christmas” film series. Movies include family favorites like It’s A Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story; timeless joys like Home Alone, Gremlins, and Die Hard; and a rare chance to see the raunchy Bad Santa on the big screen.
