Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: bonded tortie sisters Tabitha and Samantha.
While many kittens are confident chaos, Tabitha and Samantha prefer a slow reveal. And it’s worth the wait! These bonded tortie sisters were rescued from outdoors as kittens after their mama brought them to a porch for food. They’ve come a long way since then and are now sweet, playful teenagers who are still figuring out that humans are actually pretty great.

Tabitha (tortie) is shy, thoughtful, and clearly torn between “I should be suspicious of this” and “wow, okay I love this.” She allows pets, purrs, and rolls around for more. Every day, her confidence grows. Her foster mom is convinced she’s going to be an absolute cuddlebug once she fully settles in.

Samantha (dilute tortie), aka Sammy, is the curious observer. She’s vocal, silly, and famous for her little “murph” sounds as she investigates everything happening around her. She doesn’t seek out affection yet, but she’ll happily take Churu treats from your hand, and when pets do happen, she purrs and rolls around.
If you’re the kind of person who believes the best relationships are built slowly, who finds joy in small milestones, and who wants to watch two shy kittens blossom into confident, affectionate companions, Tabitha and Samantha are ready to take that journey with you.
