Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: an affectionate old-timer known as Peepaw.
Meet Peepaw! This elderly gent is everything you’d want from your own grandpa. He’s kind, affectionate and gentle. After a life spent outside, he’s decided to “retire” from outdoor life.
Now, after a few months of indoor TLC, monthly injections for his achin’ joints, and a nice warm heating pad, he’s able to jump to the top shelf of the cat tree and run around with the best of them. His coat has improved and he finally got the dental work he so desperately needed. He’s had all four fangs removed, so he is on a wet food only diet and needs a daily supplement called l-lysine for his general health.
The only catch is that he is FIV+ (which honestly isn’t even a little bit of a deal—we encourage you to look up modern information on it), and there is slim-to-no chance of another cat actually catching it. If you were willing to give this old-timer the retirement home he deserves, he will repay you with all the lap time and drooly headbutts you can handle for his remaining time on this planet.
