This fall marks my 30th year of living in Milwaukee. Three decades! Wow! Like I said in a recent piece:
I moved here in 1996, straight out of high school, to attend UWM. I’ve lived in Milwaukee my entire adult life. I’ve gone to school here, played in a band here, made countless friends here, made more than a few enemies here, fucked up here, improved here, fucked up some more here, forged an unlikely career here, gotten married here, and raised a family here. This town is literally my livelihood. I love it more and more every year, and you better believe I’ve been head over heels for the past month.
That “head over heels” bit referred to the Milwaukee Brewers’ historic 2026 World Championship, but my love for Milwaukee goes beyond a great year of baseball. This city has evolved over the past 30 years, and so have I. I’ve also learned a simple truth about living in Milwaukee: you get out what you put in.
So yeah, 30 years! Here’s to 30 more! And here’s to me talking about my Milwaukee journey on TMJ4 afternoon show What’s Brewing Wisconsin! Warning: high school graduation photos are involved.
Thanks, as always, to everyone at the show for having me on. I’ll be back in two weeks to talk about…something!
