UPDATE (4/21/21): Never mind: According to its just-updated website, the 2021 Milwaukee Air & Water Show is “currently on a hold status.”

We’re currently putting together a big ol’ list of Milwaukee summer festivals that are still happening (for now, at least), and one event stood out: Yes, according to its website and other sources, the 2021 Milwaukee Air & Water Show is all jet engines go for a return to Milwaukee’s lakefront July 24-25, 2021. Ticket information is “coming soon.”

The show was grounded in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. United States Air Force Thunderbirds fans sighed. Milwaukee-area pets rejoiced.

Speaking of those Thunderbirds, they’ve apparently worked out something new for 2021. “With the cancellation of the 2020 air show season, the team focused its efforts on saluting first responders and enhancing the aerial demonstration for fans,” the Thunderbirds team said in a video last week. The Thunderbirds have been flying the same demonstration since 1983, you see, and, well, it was apparently time to shake things up.

“The team redesigned the aerial demonstration to better showcase the complexity, challenge and capabilities of the F-16 and Air Force pilots,” the video continued. Here’s the whole thing, complete with all the updates fans will enjoy in 2021:

Things could change, of course, so we’ll keep you posted. But for now, see you July 24-25, Milwaukee Air & Water Show fans! For everyone else, Mauthe Lake is really nice in July!
