If you’ve been growing anxious over the lack of daily (hourly?) news about yet another proposed downtown Milwaukee strip club, never fear: today, the Milwaukee Business Journal has the scoop on the umpteenth such proposal. And oh boy, it’s a doozy.

According to the site, a two-story “Roaring ’20s-themed gentlemen’s club featuring high-end dining called The Cosmopolitan” is hoping to set up shop up in the former site of Catch 22 Bar & Grill, at 770-772 N. Milwaukee Street. Insert your own “flapper” jokes here.

According to the business plan, the high-end club will be targeted to a more upscale clientele and business professionals and is described in the plan as a place where “beautiful women in evening gowns will illuminate the space and provide a tasteful gentlemen’s cub experience to our guests.”

The second floor will be reserved exclusively for adult entertainment, while the first floor, which will feature a full bar, will be earmarked for dining and decked out in swanky furniture and decor from the Roaring ’20s era. The club will also enforce a strict dress code, according to the plans.

Catch 22 closed in December 2015. In February 2016, the building was sold to the owner of beloved Indian restaurant Maharaja. As for the strip club plans, there’ s no word yet on the endless civic hand-wringing and inevitable lawsuit.
