Watch Milverine welcome spring’s arrival by reciting a poem Milwaukee Record Staff March 24, 2025 Milverine—real name John Frank Hamann—has been a Milwaukee character for more than a decade, famous for hoofing it around town sans shirt, and for bearing more than a passing resemblance to the X-Men’s Wolverine. Hamann has been the subject of countless social media posts, videos, news reports, songs, beers, bobbleheads, and even cat-themed Christmas cards. He is also a huge opera fan and, as we very recently learned, a poet. Over the weekend, Hamann posted a video on social media that featured him (shirtless, as usual) reciting a poem welcoming the arrival of springtime. Moreover, he paired the poetry with musical accompaniment in the form of Felix Mandelssohn’s “Piano Concerto No. 1.” Watch it below or on Milverine’s Instagram page.
