LOWLANDS GROUP WINTER EXPERIENCES ARE BACK WITH NEW LARGER IGLOOS AT HOLLANDER IN MILWAUKEE & MEQUON

Reservations available starting Nov. 16 just in time for holiday weekend

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Nov. 9, 2023 – Lowlands Group today announced the return of some of Milwaukee’s most unique holiday traditions. Lowlands Winter Experiences continues to expand with new winter outdoor dining offerings at their eight grand café and supper club locations in Milwaukee and Madison. Lowlands Group was among the first to bring private outdoor dining to Wisconsin with the launch of its popular Lux Domes in 2018 at Café Benelux in Milwaukee’s Third Ward and has since expanded to include experiences at all of its locations and has been named on Thrillist best in outdoor dining destination lists.

Reservations are live today and can be made for dining events starting on November 16 at www.lowlandswinter.com.

“Nobody does winter quite like Wisconsinites do,” said Eric Wagner, CEO, Lowlands Group. “We are passionate about creating unique dining experiences for our guests, and our Winter Experiences allow us to extend the life of patio season and bring the magic of winter – and the holidays – to our beloved neighborhoods.”

New this year, Lowlands introduces Hollander Igloos to its locations in Milwaukee’s Downer Ave. neighborhood and Mequon to welcome larger parties. These spacious 15-foot igloos host 8-12 guests for large friend or family gatherings, holiday parties, and more. Exclusive to the Hollander Igloos, guests will receive a complimentary bar package. Guests can warm up with a make-it-yourself Hot Cocoa or Cider Bar with seasonal accoutrements and both boozy and non-boozy options. Or celebrate the occasion with a festive, 21+ Candyland Champagne Punch bar featuring freeze dried skittles, cotton candy, rock candy, and more. Also new this year, and exclusive to the Hollander Igloos, guests can order a Rice Table experience: Lowlands’ interpretation of a Dutch-Indonesian, family-style spread. The table is chock-full of a variety of foods in shareable portions, including firecracker shrimp, chili chicken, falafel feta dip, and more, all accompanied by rice and grain options. This fun do-it-yourself eating experience is not available in the restaurant or in any other Winter Experiences, making it a truly unique dining option.

“We’re really excited to be able to accommodate larger groups this year with the addition of our Hollander Igloos,” said Wagner. “Not only are we continuing to build new gathering spaces for guests where memories are made, but we’re also working to elevate their eating.”

New for Hollander Globes and Domes this year, guests will be treated to a complimentary signature welcome drink with each reservation. The welcome drinks include both alcoholic or non-alcoholic bubbles for toasting celebrations, as well as hot cocoa for the kids.

The private outdoor experiences are tailored to each restaurant’s distinct concept and feature peak evening and weekend booking slots that can be reserved ahead of time online, with pricing ranging from $25 to $150 based on location, day and time. Walk-ins will be accommodated based on availability. Each booking experience includes a private, heated space for 6-12 guests for 90 minutes, with complimentary beverage options in addition to specially-curated, pre-order food and beverage menus designed for family-style service, with both themed and customizable options. Guests are also welcome to order from the full restaurant menus onsite.

Seasonal add-on drink package highlights include the Buckatabon Old Fashioned, Mulled Spiced Sangria, Rumchata Cocoa, and more. Curated food menus are available for pre-order at various locations and range from charcuterie and cheese platters to Northwoods-inspired dishes.

Experiences include:

Buckatabon Tavern & Supper Club (Wauwatosa) – Frank & Larry’s Northwoods Shanties
Known for its nostalgic and entertaining Northwoods and supper club experience, Buckatabon heads outside again this winter, with its unique Frank & Larry’s Northwoods Shanties. Building on Buckatabon’s ever-expanding list of Northwoods partners, these shanties were designed and built in collaboration with Ken Schels, owner of KMS out of Eagle River. Private reservations are for groups of up to eight guests.

Café Benelux (Third Ward) – Lux Domes and Lux Rooftop Warming Tent
The Lux Domes return to the Café Benelux rooftop for the upcoming holiday season. These luxurious heated domes quickly sell-out due to popularity. The Alpenglobes at Café Benelux were first introduced this side of the Mississippi last year, seating up to eight guests, that are cozier and more luxurious. Reservations include a keepsake mug and for the first time ever, guests of all ages will be welcome to experience the Lux Domes. Previously only available for 21+ guests, Café Benelux has adjusted its policy to allow more families to participate in one of Milwaukee’s most unique winter experiences.

For non-private dining options, Café Benelux also offers the The Lux Rooftop Warming Tent, allowing diners to take in the sights from the Third Ward’s most unique rooftop all winter long. This cozy, festive tent can also become a private event space for up to 50 guests; perfect for corporate or personal holiday parties.
