Light the Hoan Nears Goal to Illuminate East Side of Bridge by Summer 2025
MILWAUKEE – Light the Hoan is thrilled to announce that it has reached 90% of its $1.4 million fundraising goal to light the east side of the Hoan Bridge, a project aimed at expanding Milwaukee’s iconic symbol of light, connection, and hope. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the community and incredible support for the bridge’s impactful programming, Light the Hoan is well on its way to illuminating the east side of the bridge by summer 2025.
“Every dollar donated not only brings us closer to lighting the east side of the bridge but also supports local organizations and the missions that make Milwaukee extraordinary,” said Erika Smith, Executive Director of Light the Hoan.
To celebrate the progress and inspire end-of-year giving to meet our final goal, Light the Hoan is offering several exciting opportunities:
• Donate or Dedicate a Bulb: This holiday season, there’s even more reason to give:
For every $100 donation or bulb dedication, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win an exclusive, interactive, behind-the-scenes experience with Light the Hoan’s Executive Director. This unique opportunity includes the chance to:
• Explore how Light the Hoan operates.
• Control the bridge’s lights for a session, designing your own display or creating a custom moment for a party, event, or celebration.
• Witness firsthand the magic that keeps the Hoan shining bright.
• East Side Sponsorship Opportunities:
Businesses and organizations can sponsor 2025 programming or the east side lighting and play a pivotal role in bringing this iconic project to life. Sponsorship benefits include prominent recognition at the east side bridge lighting event, opportunities for team engagement, and alignment with a project that symbolizes Milwaukee’s innovation, creativity, and unity.
“These opportunities showcase the many ways Milwaukee can come together to support a brighter, more connected community,” Smith added.
Light the Hoan invites all Milwaukeeans to join in making history as the east side of the bridge prepares to shine. The project has become a symbol of inspiration and progress, connecting the city with light, art, and shared vision.
Once both sides of the bridge are lit, Light the Hoan will continue to work to create impact in our community through not only the beauty and inspiration of the bridge but also engaging programming, including:
• The Intern Challenge:
creating connection among summer interns in Milwaukee with the goal of enticing them to become long-term residents of our community;
• Shine a Light:
supporting and celebrating not-for-profit organizations in our community through increased awareness and donations, and
• Code the Hoan:
an ever-expanding suite of STEAM education opportunities with the use of the bridge lights and lighting technologies.
