Believe it or not, the 2025 Wisconsin State Fair‘s days are numbered. Come Monday morning, State Fair Park will be devoid of indulgent foods and drinks, unique activities, second-to-none shopping, and other interesting amenities that collectively make the 11-day occurrence an annual highlight for thousands upon thousands of folks in Wisconsin (and beyond). So get to the State Fair and live it up while you still can!
There isn’t just one way to do the State Fair “right,” but it’s hard to argue with Middle Child Syndrome‘s approach. The solo recording project of singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Matt Mueller just released a brand new single that’s pretty much a to-do list of Wisconsin State Fair food and fun. “I’m A Fair Lover” chronicles a billiards bet that works very much in the favor of the protagonist, who wins “an all-expenses-paid” trip to the Fair.
With a rollicking, country-tinged sound and a delivery that’s reminiscent of a food- and ride-focused take on Johnny Cash’s “I’ve Been Everywhere,” Middle Child Syndrome runs through a $218 list of Fair fare before unleashing a rapid-fire reading of other forms of fairgrounds festivities that, when combined, sounds like the best day he’s had…at least “since last summer.” Before you partake in the final weekend of this year’s Wisconsin State Fair, get some ideas of ways to enjoy it and listen to “I’m A Fair Lover” now.
