Since launching in 2013, Girls Rock Milwaukee—and, later, its affiliated Ladies Rock Milwaukee organization—has worked hard “to empower girls, women, and transgender and gender non-conforming individuals of any identity, and of all backgrounds and abilities through music education and performance.”

In addition to giving campers an opportunity to learn more about all facets of music and to be part of a full-fledged band, Girls Rock also helps foster independent thinking and build self-esteem in a creative and supportive environment. In short, it’s awesome. This summer, Girls Rock Milwaukee will be back for its seventh year.

Today, the organization announced the dates for its 2020 camp sessions at UW-Milwaukee’s Helene Zelazo Center For The Performing Arts. Session 1 will run June 22-26 (with a June 28 showcase at Turner Hall) and Session 2 will take place July 27-31 (August 2 showcase at Turner Hall). Enrollment for the camps will open Sunday, March 1, and Girls Rock encourages interested parties to sign up early because “spots are limited for both camps and they will go fast.”

Adults who are interested in volunteering at the camp can also sign up on Girls Rock Milwaukee’s website. Also, individuals who wish to take part in Ladies Rock Milwaukee camp can register now. The camp will take place June 18-21.
