If the just-wrapped Summerfest 2015 taught us anything, it’s that there is no shortage of cover and tribute bands playing in and around Milwaukee. U2 tribute bands, Led Zeppelin tribute bands, The Who tribute bands, Journey tribute bands, and more dot the local musical landscape like so many discarded Rock Band drum sets. But only one act takes things to a glorious, awesome level: Gabriel Sanchez and The Prince Experience. A staple at Summerfest, Bay View Bash, and just about any place with a stage and a taste for meticulous recreations of Purple Rain-era Prince, Sanchez and his group prove that in the right hands, tribute shows can be a ton of un-ironic and unabashed fun. There’s a reason we gave the man his own category in our roundup of Summerfest cover bands.

Now, Sanchez and his Prince Experience will take their mission of elaborate costumes, elaborate choreography, and elaborate performances of “Little Red Corvette” to yet another level with a show at Turner Hall. On Saturday, November 28, the Purple One proxy will get through this thing we call life in front of what we assume—nay, what we demand—will be a sold-out crowd. General admission tickets begin at $17, and go on sale Friday, July 10 at noon. Let’s get crazy, Milwaukee. Let’s get nuts.
