Since opening just over 10 years ago, The Vanguard has established itself as the pinnacle of tubed meat delicacies in Milwaukee. Even though the Bay View bar and restaurant has a winning mix of specialty sausages, “tube-less” options, exceptional appetizers, and an impressive group of vegan and vegetarian offerings, The Vanguard likes to keep things fresh and make room for new offerings by occasionally phasing out existing menu items.

Starting Thursday, February 27, the restaurant will welcome a handful of new items to its menu. Some are past specials that have now been elevated to full-time availability. Others are new creations hitting the menu for the first time. In the process of adding a total of four things to the menu, The Vanguard is also saying farewell (for now and potentially forever) to four menu items.

Coming

The Bango Banger
Venison sausage with nutmeg and High Life. Topped with fried cabbage, demi-glace, French fries, horseradish peas, and pickled mustard seed. (Cannot be made vegetarian or vegan.)

The Chicken Artichoke
Chicken sausage with artichoke, white cheddar curds, and smoked hot paprika. Topped with warm spinach dip, tortilla strips, Parmesan, and lemon zest. (Can be made vegetarian.)

Fried Brussels
Brussels Sprouts topped with gochujang vinaigrette, Kewpie mayo, fried garlic, sesame seeds, and scallions. (Can be made vegan)

Beans And Greens
Pancetta, Northern white beans, kale, roasted red pepper aioli, and fried basil. (Cannot be made vegetarian or vegan.)
