Can’t get enough of sushi restaurants? Neither can we, which is why we’re excited to inform you that a new sushi restaurant is being planned for Walker’s Point.
What’s the name of the new joint? 1033 Omakase. Where will it be located? In the space of the short-lived 1033 MKE restaurant. What’s the address? 1033 S. 1st St.
1033!
According to a license application filed with the city, 1033 Omakase is a joint project of Theeraporn Phetleung and chef Worawit Boonyapituksakul. Chef Boonyapituksakul is the man behind a popular sushi pop-up experience called DAG Home-Makase. The pop-up, which takes place in both restaurants and private homes, is scheduled to make two appearances at Easy Tyger this month, October 16 and 17. The October 17 installment is sold out.
“I’ve amassed over 15 years of experience as a sushi chef at various renown sushi restaurants in Chicago and NYC,” Boonyapituksakul says in an Instagram post. “One of the key lessons I’ve learned throughout the years is to have a deep appreciation for the customer. I value the bonds I’ve created among my clientele and I am grateful for their support. My experiences have helped shape my passion to serve my clients the most delicious food.”

1033 Omakase plans to be open seven days a week, 9 a.m. – 11 p.m. Food is projected to be 90% of the restaurant’s income, with alcohol coming in at 10%. As for an opening date, the license application reads “As soon as possible.”
Prior to 1033 Omakase (it still needs approval from the Common Council), 1033 S. 1st St. was briefly home to 1033 MKE. The restaurant and wine bar opened in May 2023 and closed in July 2024.
