Walker’s Point watering hole and live music venue Promises, 538 W. National Ave., is closed. After a few days of uncertainty, the bar made the news official on Tuesday.

“We are closed,” reads an Instagram post. “We were unable to afford operation nor were we able to renegotiate with the owner of the building.” The post goes on to thank the countless customers, bands, and friends that frequented the bar in the past two-plus years.

Milwaukee music stalwarts Casey Hughes and Joey Turbo opened Promises in July 2022, in the former space of Gilbralter MKE and Walker’s Point Music Hall. It ruled. It will be missed. Damn.
