Back in early May, the fine folks at MobCraft Beer quietly announced the date for its 5th annual “Weird Fest Block Party.” After we immediately saved the date for the Walker’s Point (by way of Madison) brewery’s July 22 block party, we patiently awaited more info about what MobCraft has in store for its yearly wonderful and weird day of whimsy. Well, the wait is over! Today, MobCraft released details about Weird Fest entertainment, food and retail vendors, and limited edition beers that will be on hand next month.

From noon to 8 p.m. on July 22, MobCraft’s interior and exterior will be abuzz with activity. There will be a total of six lucha libre wrestling matches courtesy of Mondo Lucha. Music will be provided by Overflow and Dad Strength, each of whom will play two sets over the course of the day. MobCraft will be whipping up some food, Los Compadres food truck will be selling Mexican fare, and Style Pop Café will serve specialty coffee drinks, egg rolls, and baked goods. Chillwaukee and Kelly’s Greens will also be selling sweets on site.

Beyond the food vendors, Weird Fest will also have local retailers like Clover, Aime’s Botanicals and Blooms, Lili’s Art Boutique, Moose Vintage, and face painting by Christian Sis. Oh, and have we mentioned MobCraft will be making some new, limited release beers for the occasion? Of course they are! According to a press release, this year’s Weird Fest beers include:

Mango Habanero Crush – Mango smoothie-style beer with a blast of habanero heat

Dill Pickle Sour Ale – Sour Ale layered with cucumbers, fresh dill and spices

Mushroom Mobtoberfest – Marzen-style ale featuring shiitake, oyster and button mushrooms

Also from the press release:

“Additionally, the Walker’s Point brewery will release their 10th Anniversary Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout—a blend of a 12-year Elijah Craig barrel and a 5-year Evan Williams barrel featuring vanilla beans and coffee. The honorary Anniversary Stout will only be available in extremely limited four-packs of cans to go. Festival goers who are interested in the limited release are recommended to arrive when the festival kicks off to snag their four-pack.”

In addition to offering those rarities and many of their year-round favorites, MobCraft will also be crafting unique specialty beer cocktails that will be announced on the brewery’s website prior to the fest. Milwaukee Record will also be involved in another (very weird!) aspect of the festival’s drinking experience, but we’re not quite ready to tell you about that yet. In the meantime, save the date and prepare to get weird with MobCraft on Saturday, July 22.
