Way back in early January (which seems like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?), we told you about a “mac and cheese parlor” that was coming to Bay View. That new restaurant venture, Makk ‘n’ Cheese, was expected to open at 2242 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.—in the former site of Pizza Di Famiglia and the longtime site of a Jimmy John’s location before that—sometime before spring. Of course, the world had different plans…plans that weren’t exactly conducive to opening a restaurant in March.

However, following months of delays, Makk ‘n’ Cheese will finally celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, August 22. True to its name (with the double “k,” of course, being a reference to “Kinnickinnic”), Makk ‘n’ Cheese will offer a variety of specialty macaroni and cheese options, including an “Elote Makk,” a “Willy Philly” cheesesteak mac, a Chili Chipotle option, and a buffalo chicken riff called “OG Buffalo Bill.” In addition to the macaroni dishes, the restaurant will also offer seven specialty grilled cheeses and tomato soup. You can look at the full menu here.

Makk ‘n’ Cheese will open Saturday at 11 a.m. and will be open until 9 p.m. Check the restaurant’s Facebook page for more information.
