Within the next few weeks, there will be a new pizza place in the heart of Wauwatosa. BB’s On North is expected to open sometime in the month of January.

The new venture will bring pizza, pasta, and a wide selection of wines to 7237 W. North Ave., in a property that was previously home to Irie Zulu. Shortly after the African-Jamaican restaurant announced it would be closing last April, brothers Pietro and Mario Balistreri—who have a family connection to Balistreri Brothers Pizza—took measures to open another pizza place in metro Milwaukee. The proposed pizzeria was originally going to be called Cello Pizza, but the name was later changed to BB’s On North. “BB” is an abbreviation for Balistreri Brothers.

The original Balistreri Brothers Pizza opened in 1974 and is currently located in Greenfield. Short of sharing the same surname, the business has no connection to Balistreri’s Italian Ristorante on 812 N. 68th Street. Pietro and Mario were reportedly aiming to open their offshoot last July, but those plans were delayed. However, according to a post on the restaurant’s new Facebook page, BB’s On North “will be opening [its] doors to the public in the next couple weeks.”

Stay tuned for updates on the opening date and check back for a First Impression. Until then, get ready for another restaurant with the Balistreri name in Wauwatosa.
