Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: special friends Kenya and Cayman.
Kenya (female) and Cayman (male) are a special little duo. They have an unusual bond. After Kenya gave birth to kittens that required around the clock care and intervention, our medical team decided it would be best to separate them. Once healthy in her new space, Kenya beelined to the older kittens that happened to be in the foster home. They took to her immediately. Cayman, in particular, adored Kenya from the start and has been her little shadow ever since.
Kenya is a sleek and energetic little lady with big beautiful eyes. She is very social, outgoing, and craves human attention. She will run to greet you and weave herself through your legs to make sure you know you’re the best. She loves playing with any and all toys and has a purr motor that goes to 11. She can’t pass up a good snuggle and will definitely be your bestie.
Cayman is a little tabby man that is curious, playful, and funny. He will play the day away and then just plop down on the spot to fall asleep. This little guy has struggled to get over his fear of people, but Kenya helps him feel brave. Cayman will need an adopter that understands shy cats and let’s them have their space and hiding spots. His bravery will grow everyday with the right person. Churu treats, slow blinks, sweet talk, and sitting on the floor with him to let him know you’re not big and scary will definitely win him over with time.
