Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a smart little guy called Coneflower.
Meet Coneflower! This baby boy with his gorgeous teal eyes is so stinking affectionate. You have to whistle to get him to sit still for some photos because he does not stop marching around smooshing his head into you and rolling over on your lap.
He has a cute little squeaky meow and uses it when he seeks affection and snacks. He loves batting at dangly toys, but getting pets is better. He is still learning about people and indoor life and sometimes makes little mistakes, but he learns very quickly.
He is still nervous about new people and sounds and, of course, the vacuum. But he’s getting more brave and confident every day. He was living in a colony with other cats and has thus far been unfazed by the other cats in the foster home.
Coneflower has come so far so quickly, and he’s pretty much the smartest boy. He really just wants to be loved…and to eat snacks. He definitely wants snacks. Give this little man a Churu and you’re besties for life. This dude is so food motivated. A week stuck in a pit will do that.
For those that missed his rescue story: He was found stuck down a 10-foot concrete enclosure in downtown Milwaukee at the end of November. His finder called around for a week for help before she found Urban Cat Coalition. They were able to climb down and get him out. He was so skinny that he needed to be kept in emergency foster care for a few weeks to gain weight, and in that time, he decided people are pretty great and indoors is where it’s at.
If you have a quiet, patient home and are looking for a little tabby with a lot of love to give then Coneflower is your guy!
