Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a resilient little weirdo called Afortunada.
Afortunada didn’t start with a soft landing. She was found alone in an abandoned apartment, underweight, and clearly having had a rough go of it. But if you’re expecting a shy, world-weary cat…that she is not. These days, she’s bright-eyed, affectionate, and very much interested in being part of your daily life. She has a sweet little meow she uses to check in, a fondness for being held, and a talent for getting you to pet her.

The ears? A little unconventional. We believe they were clipped by a previous owner, but now they just give her a unique look and a reminder of the past. Afortunada is happiest as your one-and-only. She’s made it clear she prefers her humans without a side of other cats, and honestly, she’s got enough personality to fill the room all by herself. She’s playful, affectionate, adaptable, and content in a busy home or a quieter space where she can be your bestie.
If you’ve got a home, a lap, and a soft spot for a resilient little weirdo with a very cute face, Afortunada is ready to meet you.
