We love Milwaukee Recreation. We’ve devoted numerous articles to the group (a department of Milwaukee Public Schools) and its sometimes wonderful, sometimes weird seasonal offerings. But, thanks to a global pandemic and a statewide order to “stay at home,” there’s not a whole lot of “recreation” that Milwaukee Recreation can offer, right? WRONG.

Enter week two of Milwaukee Rec’s virtual (and very popular) “Rec. At Home” program. All this week, Milwaukee Rec will stream 17 free classes from its Facebook page, including “Vinaigrettes, Mayos, and Marinades” (Tuesday, 2 p.m.), “Family Yoga” (Thursday, 5 p.m.), and, yes, “Butts & Guts” (Monday, 6:30 p.m.). Thanks, Milwaukee Rec!

“It has been remarkable to see the incredible response to our virtual classes,” Milwaukee Recreation’s senior director Lynn A. Greb says in a press release. “Our instructors have continued to lead high-quality programs and engage with individuals via this unique platform. Stress reduction, increasing physical activity, and conquering boredom are just some of the benefits recreation activities provide. We are fortunate to have a team of amazing individuals willing to step up and continue connecting with the community during this crisis situation.”

The classes will also be archived for posterity on Milwaukee Rec’s Facebook page. Here’s the schedule!
