The East Side Business Improvement District Presents – Veridian Kaleidoscope – Ivanhoe Plaza’s Newest Mural

The new mural will be revealed to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community celebration on June 13

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) – The East Side Business Improvement District (ESBID), the creative crossroads of the east side of Milwaukee, announced it will unveil the community’s newest mural with a celebration in Ivanhoe Plaza (2050-2000 E Ivanhoe Pl) on Friday, June 13 at 2 p.m. Free and open to the public, the celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks by East Side BID Executive Director and muralist Ryan Laessig, Artist Alain Poma, and Alderman Alex Brower, plus a performance by UWM Dance.

POMA Art and EDBID’s very own Ryan Laessig created “Veridian Kaleidoscope,” alongside new plaza barrier art by Cutesy Macabre. Inspired by the juxtaposition of gardens and urban spaces, the mural invokes the style of stained glass mixed with earthly tones and vibrancy. In a nod to the Wizard of Oz, guests may spot a fun “Easter Egg” in the mural – a variety of yellow spots leading them to Black Cat Alley.

“Beautifying the neighborhood has been a priority for our team this year,” said Laessig. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to not only support local artists but to create new art for our community alongside them for this special project.”

In addition to Ivanhoe Plaza’s “Veridian Kaleidoscope,” the BID has partnered with local artists to add several new murals to Black Cat Alley this year, including “And Now You’re Here” by Adam Melster, “Petit Paradis” by POMA Art, “Right Here” by Danny Duffy, and “Mom” by Hannah Tews. Black Cat Alley is managed by the East Side BID and contains over 20 murals by artists from Milwaukee and around the world.
