Let’s just cut right to the chase, shall we? Today—Friday, May 1—Bandcamp is waiving its fee for all sales, meaning artists get 100 percent of sales. Figuring musicians and independent labels could probably use some extra money right now on account of this whole “global pandemic and economic collapse” thing, we encourage you to take advantage of this offering and help some local artists by buying some Milwaukee music today.

Beyond asking you to buy some Milwaukee releases on Bandcamp today (or any other day, for that matter), we’ve found a few acts who are marking this one-day offer extra special with EP releases, merch bundles, album pre-orders, and more. Here they are! Oh, and please add more specials and new releases happening this “Fee Free Friday” in the comments.

1-800-HUG-ME
The side project of GGOOLLDD members Margaret Butler and Nick Ziemann released its new Peas EP on May 1. The four-song release is only $4. That’s less than $1.01 per song!

Drugs Dragons
Remember Drugs Dragons? Well, the band’s unreleased album, Highest Strangeness, is going to be available for pre-order starting May 1.

Mertles Acres
After the melodic punk duo released its self-titled debut album in early April, Mertles Acres is asking listeners to buy their merch—specifically its T-shirts—on May 1. Or if you still haven’t heard the band’s record, buy that.

The Midwest Beat
Yes, The Midwest Beat is done as a band, but the longstanding garage rock outfit’s final album, Incantations, is now available for pre-order via Dusty Medical. Or get it digitally. Or both. Whatever!

Paper Holland
To mark this special day, Paper Holland has created a vinyl bundle which includes a copy of 2018’s Galápagos on vinyl (with digital download), a flamingo enamel pin, two blue flamingo koozies, and a pair of flamingo stickers for only $22—which includes shipping costs. The band says there are only 20 of these bundles available, so act fast.

Phylums
Another Dusty Medical band that’s finally getting its vinyl release, Phylums’ great 2019 record ii will finally get the wax treatment beginning today.

Space Raft
Space Raft rules. Space Raft has a new album. Buy Positively Space Raft now because it’s very good.

The Trusty Knife
Remember The Trusty Knife? We do! The band’s self-titled album is available for pre-order on Dusty Medical starting May 1.

Know of any other Milwaukee musicians or labels that are offering deals as part of Bandcamp’s fee free May 1? Please mention them in the comments.
