Excuse our tardiness on this one, but CMT.com isn’t exactly in our bookmarks. However, we were recently given a reason to check out Country Music Television’s website when Milwaukee alt-country stalwart Hugh Bob And The Hustle earned the honor of being filmed while playing on a Nashville sidewalk as part of the network’s “Concrete Country” series.

In addition to playing “Blame Me,” “This Bar Is A Prison,” and “Mess With Me” on the bustling streets of Music City, namesake Hugh Masterson explains the background and inspiration for some of the band’s songs. (Evidently just getting drunk, saying poignant stuff, and writing it down on a dry erase board.)

Following last night’s Tosa Tonight performance, the always locally active Hustle will hit the road for a run of shows outside the region. Even if the September 26 Concert 4 MACC at Turner Hall ends up being Hugh’s next local outing (which is very unlikely to be the case), at least these CMT videos can patch the Hugh Bob-shaped hole in your life until the local favorite takes the stage again.

Bonus: If you watch the day this post was written, you’ll see a bunch of Bush’s Bakes Beans commercials before the video plays. What are you waiting for? Roll that beautiful bean footage!
