On Sunday, April 19 at Turner Hall, the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (or WAMI, if you’re nasty) will hand out its annual awards for the 35th year running. Today, the nominees for those awards were announced. Like years past, there are plenty of terrific local names (Field Report, Canopies, WebsterX, “The Whips”), some longtime WAMI favorites (PHOX, Sam Llanas, Nora Collins, Metal Men), and Rabid Aardvarks. Are the WAMIs worth getting worked up about any more? No, but don’t let that stop you.

A free party celebrating the nominees will take place Sunday, March 29 at Papa’s Social Club, featuring complimentary hors d’oeuvres, drink specials, and music by Tweed Funk. Feel free to argue the merits of your favorite reed player then.
