Today in exciting fall event announcements: Your friends here at Milwaukee Record are planning to bring our annual “Casserole Call” back to beautiful Falcon Hall in Riverwest on Sunday, November 22 from 12-3 p.m. If you haven’t attended any of the three prior installments, the hot dish bake off features an eclectic range of area restaurants, cafes, bars, breweries, and more serving up samples of their own casserole interpretation. Proceeds from the event benefit Kinship Community Food Center. It’s always a fun time and we’re thrilled to be bringing it back. Maybe.

Before we can confidently put tickets on sale for this, we need more area businesses to commit to being part of it. In full transparency, it’s been historically tough to get places to participate this time around. It’s no doubt the current (abysmal) economic climate, crippling inflation, constant food recalls, and a complete and utter absence of government support have made the already difficult task of operating an independent restaurant significantly harder, so we understand it just might not be in the cards this year.
However, if any places would be so kind to take part in this year’s Casserole Call, we’ll offer some ad space on Milwaukee Record as a token of thanks. We’ve always done that, but it bears repeating. Casserole for ad space seems like a fair trade! As usual, Falcon Hall has tables and we’ll provide your booth with sample cups, utensils, and napkins. Basically, participating businesses just need to show up with casserole and someone to serve it.
Readers, we encourage you to send this article to restaurants (or bars, breweries, caterers, cafes, food truck purveyors, and so forth) you think would be great for this. Those who are potentially interested in being a vendor this year should email me at [email protected] for more information. We hope—emphasis on “hope”—to see you all at Falcon Hall on Sunday, November 22 so we can enjoy some tasty casserole creations together and raise some funds for a great local organization.
