Yesterday, Milwaukee Record hosted its third annual “Casserole Call” event, which brought a variety of area businesses to Falcon Bowl in Riverwest for a full-on hot dish bake off. A total of nine local establishments competed for the title of “Milwaukee’s Best Casserole,” as voted on by the more than 180 people who attended the third-year event that helped raise money for Kinship Community Food Center.

We had a great time tasting delicious and inventive casserole samples, drinking some High Life, and chatting with folks who came out to the event. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did if you attended or participated as a vendor. Okay, without further delay, here are the results. [Drum roll, please!] The votes have been counted—and recounted, just to be sure—and it appears as if one casserole competitor is the cream of the crock pot. The winner of the 2025 Casserole Call is…Fox Den!!!
Yes, the Walker’s Point-based burger joint that operates out of the Great Lakes Distillery tasting room earned the title with its “Birthday Chili & Cornbread Casserole.” Their hearty, indulgent, and delectable take on casserole gets them a plaque, a bunch of free ads on Milwaukee Record, and the undisputed title of “Milwaukee’s Best Casserole.” Congrats, Fox Den! Second place honors go to the cozy, gravy-topped casserole whipped up by Red Maple MKE, with Bakehouse 23‘s noodle- and nostalgia-infused casserole riff (pictured below) edging out the competition to claim bronze.

Most importantly, Kinship Community Food Center is the real winner, as we’re giving them 100% of the proceeds from the cover charge and sample ticket sales. Sunday’s event left us with a grand total of $1924.89, which we’re rounding up to an even $2,250 donation that we’re sending them today. Thanks to everyone who participated in the third Casserole Call, to those who attended, to Falcon Bowl for hosting, and to sponsors Miller High Life and Dederich Swinney & Associates for their support.
We’ll see you in Riverwest next fall for another edition of Casserole Call!
